Jeffrey Weiss, MD

Dr. Weiss is the Principal Investigator for the the listed studies including SCOTS 2, NEST and SciExVR and Director of The Healing Institute in Margate, Florida.  He is a Summa Cum Laude Medical School graduate and Ophthalmologist with Fellowships in Ophthalmologic Bioengineering and Retinal-Vitreous from Harvard University and the Joslin Diabetes Center at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston.   He held numerous academic positions including Chief, Vitreoretinal Service, Joslin Diabetes Center before entering private practice in Florida.  He holds numerous awards including " Doctors of the Year" South Florida Magazine and "Guide to America's Top Ophthalmologists" and memberships in numerous ophthalmology  organizations.  Dr. Weiss is a gifted physician-teacher, having  been invited as Visiting Professor, lecturer and consultant to innumerable hospitals and universities all over the world.  He is an inventor of specialized ophthalmic procedures  and holds many patents.  Dr. Weiss has received grant support from the National Eye Institute on major projects and been reviewer for multiple ophthalmology journals. He is a recognized expert in ophthalmic and neurologic use of hyperbaric oxygen.  Dr. Weiss has authored more than 90 journal articles, books, monographs and abstracts.

 

Steven Silberfarb, DO

Dr. Silberfarb holds a Masters of Physiology degree an is a graduated with honors from medical school. He is board certified in orthopeadic surgery and completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery including reconstructive spine surgery, intradiscal electrothremal therapy, discography, kyphoplasty and epidurals. He has practiced orthopedics and spine surgery for more than 20 years, primarily in South Florida.

Dr. Silberfarb performs the bone marrow aspirations for the listed studies including SCOTS 2 , NEST and SciExVR.  He is the Investigator for SciExVR and performs the paraspinal injections under radiologic guidance for the participating patients.

Steven Levy, MD

Dr. Levy's interest in leading edge medical technology and advancing medical care is long standing. He developed the first robotic approach to refractive eye surgery in mid 1980s and was actively involved in exploring areas of translational research including nanotechnology for ophthalmic applications. He has lead clinical advances in small incision and topical anesthetic cataract surgery  from their inception.

Following a career in the practice of ophthalmology, Dr. Levy transitioned into life science and healthcare business development. Located in Connecticut, he serves as CEO of MD Stem Cells, a leading provider of adult stem cell patient facilitation services and is Study Director for ongoing clinical studies include SCOTS 2, NEST and SciExVR.   He is also President of the Acoma Group which provides business development services for biopharmaceutical, medical and healthcare companies globally. Dr. Levy is an Advisory Board member consultant with a leading provider of advice within the clinical and life sciences. He is a reviewer for a molecular science journal with listings on Publon, and serves on the editorial boards of  journals in degenerative diseases and ophthalmology.
